Story notes:
And now, without further random babble, my fic.
Chapter 1 - A Formal Introduction
Let’s see. Where do I begin? Do I begin with my rise to power as the highest-ranked member of the Elite 4, the most powerful and influential group of people in the land? Or do I start with something more subtle? Or do I go off on some completely random tangent and lose your interest in my story before I catch myself rambling on in what may seem like to you, the reader, as senseless and completely incoherent babble? I know what I’ll start with. I’ll start with the history of my people and their rise to power and influence. We are… the Dragon Clan.
Long ago, there were four very obscure names in history. These names were so obscure that no two historians agree on what they were. They ALL agree, however, on the roles these four obscure names held in society. There was the silent assassin, founder of the Ninja Clan; the Clairvoyant, founder of the Psychic and Medium Clans; the Sensei, founder of the Fighting Dojo; and my ancestor. My ancestor was an ancient Dragon Master, and the forefather of the Dragon Clan of today.
These four traveled together, each honing their craft. When they split, they each went in separate directions. The assassin went south to hone his skills in the art of confusion and venomous attacks. This gave birth to the Ninja Clan, with two branches: Iga and Koga.
The Clairvoyant founded the Psychic Clan in the same land as the Ninja Clan. They strategically placed their den in the center of the land to keep the Ninja Clan in check. When she felt that her work was done, the Clairvoyant went abroad to form the Medium Clan, and taught them how to broaden their minds so that they may communicate with those that passed on from the realm of the living.
The Sensei studied abroad for a long while. When it finally came time to settle down, the Sensei took it upon himself to build his fighting dojo right next to the home of the Psychic Clan. What the Sensei failed to take into account in doing this was the sheer stupidity of later generations of dojo students into challenging the Psychic Clan to fights. This also gave the Psychic Clan the perfect excuse to beat up on the students of the fighting dojo with psychic power should the clan feel that the students are causing too much chaos and, although inadvertently, ultimately breaking the concentration of the Psychics to hone their mind. Whatever the case may be, the fighting dojo stands in the very same spot to this day.
So, you may find yourself asking: What happened to the Dragon Master? Did he just fade into obscurity? Well, I’ll answer you.
The Dragon Master, sensing arrogance in the other four clans, left this message to them before departing for far-away lands:
Boast about your strengths and your abilities while you can. When my kind returns, we shall be the strongest of all.
With that, the Dragon Master departed. He was never heard from again.
For a time, the other four boasted about how the Dragon Master was a senile old fool, and how his kind would never beat them. It’s assumed that they thought this way for a long time. However, it’s from this time frame, the “Middle Era” for some of you history nerds, and the near-present day that the details of the supposed “clan” are vague and sketchy. Let’s fast forward through all of that sketchy stuff to when the Dragon Clan really rose to fame and power.
Late 1990’s, the annual contest of skill is taking place. Each of the four clans are represented. The Psychic Clan has Sabrina, a very strange girl who is unknown to many people; the Ninja Clan has Koga, named after the sub-clan that he was born into; the Medium Clan has Agatha, who is known not only for her old age but also for her extremely short fuse; the Fighting Dojo had Bruno, their best pupil.
It was drilled into their psyches over a lengthy period of time that it was just going to be the four of them. Right as they were getting into the thicket of battle did a long, blue serpentine dragon come out of nowhere and knock all four clan representatives to the ground, each of them falling on their behind. When they angrily turned their attention to the one that disturbed their contest of strength and skill, the silhouette of a man caught their eye.
This man had on an elaborate red and black outfit that was fastened together with gold buttons. He had what appeared to be shoulder length pink hair that stood up so straight and smelled so nice that you wondered how it managed to defy every law of gravity known to man… and why the girls in the city were drooling over him. He also wore a cape so elaborate that you knew that he was a Dragon Master just by looking at it.
This man would, one day, become the most known name in the entire world.
This man would cement the name of the Dragon Clan in the annals of history for all time.
Together with his cousin, my mother, he would rise in the ranks to become the most revered name of all time.
His name… was Lance, the Ultimate Dragon Master.
My cousin…
…my second cousin…
…and I don’t like him at all.
- This was originally a presentation example, but now I'm turning this into a full-fledged chapter fic.
- All names you see here ARE from the Pokemon franchise.
- The four original companions are of my own creation, since there's no definite backstory as to how each of the main clans came to be. The main clans are Dragon, Ninja, Psychic, Medium, and Blackbelt. But because the Blackbelt Clan sucks so bad, they only get a brief mention.
- Even though there is a actual calendar year in this story, it's just placed at random for the sake of being there. Plus, I do believe that Pokemon R/B/Y came out around then, which is why you see Sabrina, Koga, Agatha, and Bruno in there.
And now, without further random babble, my fic.
Lance...
My cousin, Lance...
Everyone adores him...
I, myself...
I despise the man.
Even though he’s my blood relation...
I dislike him and his hair.
The hair that seems to defy gravity.
My name is Wyverna.
I am the daughter of Clair of the Dragon Clan.
This is my story.
